While Republicans were gathering to nominate Mitt Romney as their presidential candidate, artists from Goofy Faces were busy drawing caricatures inside the CNN Grill at the Republican National Convention for 4 straight days! Lead artist, Glenn Ferguson, even arrived a day early to help prepare for this event while the convention was delayed because of Hurricane Isaac. CNN reporters, celebrities, politicians and other attending VIPs were enshrined on the back wall of the grill with their full color caricature which were drawn while they watched. Many news outlets, dropped by to watch and report on the action. Now that the RNC has ended, it's on to the Democratic National Convention taking place in Charlotte, NC next week!
Ricoh, USA recently hired Goofy Faces to provide color digital caricatures at a 2-day trade show in Seattle. Digital artist, Nolan, delighted guests for 2 straight days with caricatures he drew on his iPad and printed them out for guests on a Ricoh printer. Attendees were also able to watch each drawing take shape on a large screen near the artist as he drew each guest. Digital caricatures are a great value for trade shows and are available nationwide!
In addition to our artists who draw at events as entertainment,Goofy Faces also has 9 retail stands located around the country at major family attractions coast-to-coast. Each location is run by a talented and trained manager. Manager Cliff, (upper right) was kind enough to draw a caricature of each manager so they'd each have their own. This year's annual caricature convention was a very special one. The International Society of Caricature Artists celebrated it's 20 anniversary at the Tradewinds Resort on St. Pete Beach, Florida. Over 125 artists attended and competed for the top awards in the caricature business. This was my first convention in 6 years in which I was simply an attendee after serving on the board since 2005. It was nice to have time to draw for a change as well as get drawn by many other talented artists. My theme for my gallery this year was "If I were Batman...". The samples shown here are some funny versions of a few artist friends of mine who have also worked for Goofy Faces in the past.
It's officially time to get excited for this year's annual ISCA caricature convention in St. Pete Beach, November 13th to the 18th! This marks the 20th anniversary of the one and only official caricature convention in the world.
It's Autumn once again and that means it's time for the annual Art & Apples Festival in Rochester, Michigan. This marked the 8th year in a row that Goofy Faces was there to draw attendees and promote our services. For the 2nd straight year, guest artist Glenn Ferguson was there to help draw faces for 3 days. Kids and families enjoyed their caricatures. Even Hardcore Pawn star, Les Gold stopped by to see us at work.
Goofy Faces was recently hired to draw full color caricatures at the Stars & Stripes Gymnastic Banquet held at the Fountains Golf & Banquet Center in Clarkston, MI. In order to get all 36 gymnasts finished in under 4 hours, a template was created for the first time that included color. Each body was preprinted with the color already there so only the faces needed to be drawn live and colored. It was a great success and now is another option for customers everywhere!
Small parties offer a great opportunity to have your artist draw everyone in color. This party, which took place at the Troy Historical Museum, needed 12 kids and adults drawn and colored in two hours which is exactly how long it took to finish them all.
