Robert Bauer - Thursday, February 11, 2010

Wednesday afternoon was the 9th Annual Vendor Showcase for the University Event Planners of Michigan held at the Kensington Court in Ann Arbor. Goofy Faces was on hand as one of the new vendors showcasing their talents to attendees. Guests were not disappointed as our booth wound up staying open 30 minutes past the ending time in order to accommodate those who patiently waited to get their caricature drawn.  Hopefully, Goofy Faces will get to spend more out in Ann Arbor at some of their upcoming events!

PastaPalooza Fundraiser

Robert Bauer - Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Last Thursday, Berkshire Middle School held their first PastaPalooza fundraiser and Goofy Faces was there to help add some fun and raise money for the school. 3 Goofy Faces Artists were on hand for 2 hours to draw students and parents in exchange for donations. Instead of our normal hourly fee, each artist accepted tips and split them with the school for the fundraiser. Goofy Faces raised over $100 in 2 hours and entertained everyone in attendance. If you have an organization that wants to add some fun and raise money, contact us during our off season and we may be able to help you out as well!

Senior All-night Party Season

Robert Bauer - Monday, June 01, 2009

It's that time of year once again when high schools across the U.S. hold senior all-night parties or lock-in parties. It varies from state-to-state but the goal is the same: offer graduating high school seniors a fun, safe alternative to throwing their own parties or bashes on their own. They must be working because they have been around here in Michigan since I was a senior.  That was...at least a couple decades ago!  This is my 24th year in a row drawing at senior all-night parties. The kids all look the same age and I keep getting older.  All these parties occur over a 2 or 3 week period at the end end of the senior school year.  So many of these events happen on consecutive nights in early June. This means most caricature artists, as well as other entertainers, become night owls for the beginning of the summer. Senior All-night parties begin as late as 11PM and last until 5AM!  So few of us sleep much in early June.  You think by now, I'd be used to this but it can hit you like a ton of bricks every year.  And getting older doesn't help much.  Here are photos from 2 recent All-nighters; One from Brandon High school and last night at Clawson High school. As always, the lines were long, the kids were happy and everyone enjoyed their caricatures. Students are much bolder than many other guests so it allows many of us caricature artists to get a little wilder with our drawing.
