Ignite Social Media

Robert Bauer - Monday, August 20, 2012

Each year in metro Detroit, August brings the annual Woodward Dream Cruise. Millions of car enthusiasts gather to watch classic Detroit iron and hot rods cruise up and down a 10 mile stretch of Woodward Avenue. Ignite Social Media played upon the car theme while hosting a party in Birmingham at their office just off of Woodward Avenue. Guests enjoyed selecting 1 of 5 Chrysler models, one of Ignite's clients and got to drive away with a caricature of themselves in their choice of cars.

High School All-night Parties

Robert Bauer - Monday, June 11, 2012
It's that time of year once again. Almost every high school celebrates its graduating seniors with an all-night, lock-in party. That means that there is a huge demand for entertainers like caricature artists for these events. Most high school all-night parties don't begin until after 10PM and last until 4 or 5AM! This means a week-long marathon of sleep-deprived, caffeine-induced drawing each night until every high school party is over. Goofy Faces has been involved in all-night parties for 27 years now. They are fun but the hours never get any easier.

Speaking on Art of Caricature at TTI/Vanguard: NextGens Technology Conference

Robert Bauer - Tuesday, December 20, 2011

This year I was offered an amazing opportunity to speak at the TTI/Vanguard: NextGens Technologies Conference in Miami, Florida at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. TTI/Vanguard is a unique forum for senior-level executives that links strategic technology planning to business success. Their conferences are about discovering technological possibilities for the 21st century. Five times annually, corporate and government leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers, and academicians come together to envision the future's future technologically. In highly interactive sessions, led by a world-class Advisory Board—John Perry Barlow, Maria Bezaitis, Gordon Bell, Peter Cochrane, Deborah Estrin, Eric Haseltine, Michael Hawley, Alan Kay, Leonard Kleinrock, Douglas Lenat, Robert Lucky, Nicholas Negroponte, and David Reed—and today's most influential thought leaders, debate is stimulated, and breakthrough ideas flourish.

Being around such innovative individuals was intimidating, to say the least. Having to give a presentation on the art of caricature to a group like this was even more nerve-racking. However, the presentation went off without a hitch and many attendees complimented me on my performance. In addition to speaking and networking, I also drew at one of their events on the last evening of the conference. Guests lined up to be drawn by one of the speakers which was a unique opportunity for them as well as myself!
